This painting began as a simple beach scene...sand, water, sky. But the more I stared at the image, I couldn't lose the feeling that something was missing. That "something" was a focal point and that's what lead to the graphite "frame" in its center. I've been asked frequently about the meaning for this painting, but I prefer to leave the interpretation to the viewer.
